Caecilia's schatten

Caecilia's Schatten" (Caecilia’s treasures) is a journey through the vibrant musical life of the Netherlands between 1877 - 1935. This name is a tribute to a Dutch magazine, "Caecilia," founded in 1844 in Utrecht by Dr. Florentius Cornelis Kist to promote his country's musical production.

The project invites the audience to dive right into the cultural world of that era through fresh and refined songs. It explores the Dutch musical Renaissance, a time when composers shaped a distinct national identity after years of limited activity.

The program highlights composers such as Ludwig Felix Brandt Buys and his Viennese influences, Gerard von Brucken Fock, the "Dutch Chopin", Alexander Voormolen, elegant and tender, and Anna Cramer, one of the very few female composers of that era. A special tribute will be paid to Alphons Diepenbrock, particularly renowned in his time for his symphonic songs.

This concert brings attention to composers whose music, though often overlooked, plays a vital role in the cultural heritage of the Netherlands.
